Hello
Hey, I'm Rhys, a Welsh speaker from the Vale of Glamorgan in South Wales with a passion for hiking, paddleboarding, travel and football.
My passion for hiking started after the summer of 2016, when I walked 600 miles of the Wales Coast Path, raising over £1,300 for charity. That opened a new world of exploring places on foot and writing articles to share what I had seen. I write about a range of topics, currently focusing on hiking, the outdoors and sustainability. Other topics I have covered over the years include album and festival reviews, and politics and I have also interviewed musicians covering a range of subject matters. Learn more below.
My Story
I'm the Digital Media and Marketing Lead for Cardiff Met Sport - Cardiff Metropolitan University and have worked in marketing for over 8 years. Before this role, I mainly worked for charities, including the walking charity Ramblers Cymru who fight for the right to roam and to get as many people enjoying our amazing country as possible.
Over the years, I have organised and delivered successful multi-venue festivals and fundraising events for charity, raising thousands of pounds, including breaking a fundraising record for Oxjam Wales in 2017.
This summer, I'm embarking on a life-changing journey to Zambia in 2024 with the Volunteer Zambia Project, aiming to empower young women and girls in challenging communities in both the UK and Zambia. Teaming up with volunteers from 8 UK universities, we're set to make a lasting impact.
Before I head out, I'm taking on a challenging fundraiser: hiking 345km of the Ceredigion Coast Path and Glyndŵr’s Way in just 14 days in March 2024. You can follow my daily journey via the blog section.
